Exploring Perfection In Surge Protection Offering Role of Array Junction Box in Solar PV systems Solar technology is the latest technology for the generation of electricity by receiving sun’s energy. Solar modules play a vital role in the entire process. But there are several other components taking part in the process. Otherwise, only solar arrays are meaningless. As the name itself suggests, array junction box is creating some kind of junction. So, it connects all the output strings and derives single output. The process is done in a way that array of solar modules are connected in series and the strings of these panels appearing outside, connected in parallel. The series connection of the modules raises the voltage at high level while the parallel connection of strings raises the current at high level. So, the combiner box collects all these output strings at a place and forms a junction. The main profit of doing this is the reduction of wire and its cost.

The output strings contain blocking diodes per string to provide protection from reverse current in case of darkness or shadow. An accessible disconnector switch is suggested to equip into the box before the inverter to disconnect the DC side of the system at the time of maintenance. The positive terminal of the string is connected with fuse and the negative terminal is connected either with fuse or terminal block. Then all these outputs are connected with Isolator/Terminal Block/MCB. The junction box is required in case of large no. of strings but for two or three strings this box is not required.
