  3. Research Administration System (RAS) • Central Repository for Data: From development to submission • Enables Researchers and Staff to access past and current proposals and awards to use when creating new proposals and to generate reports on pre/post award research activities • Proposals will be electronically routed for internal Tufts approvals • Federal applications will be submitted directly to the funding agency • Has ability to connect to other systems of records (Finance and Data Warehouse)

  4. What’s Happening Now

  5. Keep Informed • Subscribe to receive the latest updates on http://sites.tufts.edu/ras/ • Questions or Comments http://sites.tufts.edu/ras/contact-us/

  6. Data Collection: Internal Sponsored Coordination Form (ISCF) • Must accompany all applications for sponsored research funding • Competing renewals, resubmissions, supplements, transfer-ins • Purposes: • Documents the approval of proposed cost sharing • Informs the University of any special conditions • PI and investigators certify that they are in compliance with federal and state regulations • Attests to collaborative project planning • Serves as an agreement between PI and Co-I’s concerning distribution of funds • Ensures that Tufts does not exceed allowable number of applications

  7. Why is the Internal Sponsored Coordination Form Important? • Some data entered into the ISCF is required to be tracked by the Federal government • Errors in the ISCF can cause delays in creation of accounts • Data entered into ISCF populates new RAS system • This means that missing or incorrect data on the ISCF causes missing or incorrect data in RAS-created reports

  8. Meet the ISCF

  9. Internal Sponsored Coordination Forms(ISCF) • Forms can be found at http://viceprovost.tufts.edu/researchadmin/forms/ • ORA required fields on ISCF -Principal Investigator -Appointment Title -School -Department/DeptID -Proposed Effort -Project Title -Originating Sponsor -Proposal Type -Anticipated Award Type -Activity Type -Work Site -Character of Work -Research Category -Part II: BUDGET

  10. Internal Sponsored Coordination Forms (ISCF) • SPA required fields on ISCF • Principal Investigator • School and Dept ID • Effort • Project Title • Originating Sponsor and Prime Sponsor • Anticipated Award Type • Activity Type • Program Announcement • Investigators over salary cap and multi-account proposal • Indirect Cost • Human Subjects, Animal Use, Recombinant DNA

  12. Take Away • RAS – better, more efficient method than current system of manual entry • You can subscribe to RAS updates and submit comments and questions • ISCF fields are designed to meet proposals and awards processing needs • ISCFs are VITAL for data collection
