  1. Why we choose our name: The VTEC engine symbolizes power and high speed, which we hope our F1 car will be. “Engineering Excellence “

  2. The Crew: Kevin O’ Connor Alan O’ Mahoney Niamh O’ Sullivan I am Resource Manager. It’s my job to ensure the crew complete all tasks on time. I am the Manufacturing Engineer. I am responsible for manufacturing the car. I am Graphic Designer. It’s my responsibility to create a team identity and brand. Thomas McNally I am the Team Manager. I am responsible for the success and running of the team. I am the Marketing and Communications manager. My task is to promote our team and raise funds. I an the Design Engineer. My job is to design the fastest aerodynamic F1 car. Cathal O’ Connor Aoife Walsh

  3. Research: Wheels: Bearings- Balsa Wood: Balsa Wood is a lightweight material which. The density of dry balsa wood ranges from 40–340 kg/m³. The wood has a low density because it has large cells that contain water, which evaporates in a kiln over two weeks. The large surface area of the resulting holes gives strength. As it is low-density but high in strength It is a perfect wood to make our F1 car from. What are they? The machine element that constrains relative motion between moving parts to only the desired motion.

  4. Airflow Investigation Aerodynamics: Our Formula One Cars is low and wide to decrease air resistance, Wings, a diffuser, end plates and barge board’s increase down force. The wings are acting as a down force which holds the car onto the track. The angle of both front and rear wings can be fine-tuned and adjusted to get the ideal balance between air resistance and down force. We wanted create the maximum amount of down force for the minimal amount of drag. Exploiting the tiny aerodynamic design freedoms within the rules is painstaking, but can be the difference between seconds of extra pace on the track. Aerodynamics is by far the most important component of a race car. Airflow over the car without added features Airflow using aerofoils on the back section of the car Airflow turbulence over a flat section on the body of the car

  5. “Engineering Excellence “ Our aim:To design and manufacture a powerful and swift high speed Formula One car. Car Design:

  6. Resource Planning Potential sponsors; O’ Neills, Honda, Walsh Colour Print, Kerry Group. Publicity: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Team-VTEC/174650622728119 @teamvtec1 We have had an article on our team published in our local newsletter. We also plan on hanging posters about Team VTEC around our school.
