  2. First (find a partner or group of 3 of your choice) Read the Student Sample out loud, alternating paragraphs. Annotating: Put an “H” next to the Hook, if there is one Underline the Claim/Position Number the Reasons or Main Suppors Home Group

  3. Second • 1’s together • 2’s together • 3’s together Annotating- Put an “S” next to Supports (facts, examples, quotes) Put an “ST” next to all Statistics Put a BOX around citations in the text Squiggly Underline all Counter Aruguments/Claims Label all reasoning coming from the writer as “CM”

  4. Third • Trade cards with numbers on them until the music stops • 1 with 3 • 2 with 6 • 5 with 8 • 4 with 7 • 9 with 14 • 13 with 15 • 10 with 11 • 12 with 16 On your ticket out, write the claim and one support, and provide a counter argument on the other side.
