  4. William Henry Gates III is an American entrepreneur and chairman of Microsoft. He was born and grew up in Seattle, Washington USA. His father was an attorney and his mother was a school teacher and chairperson of the United Way charity. Gates and his two sisters had a comfortable upbringing, being able to attend the exclusive secondaty @Lakeside School@. In the phoro: William H. Gates and Mary Maxwell Gates.

  5. Bill Gates was a modest , shy boy and dreamt to become a professor of mathematics. But at school he didn’t succeed in many subjects, in spite of the fact that he had unique abilities in mathematics and logistics. He was not a leader either.At school he discovered his interests in software and began programming computers at 13.

  6. He was only 15 when he wrote a programme for how to regulate the traffic and earned 20 000 dollars for this project. Then in a year he created the first computer programme.

  7. In 1973 following the family tradition, Gates entered Harvard University. He was going to become a lawyer as his father, but he was still unsociable and shy and this did not fit the chosen profession .At Harvard Gates makes friends with Steve Ballmer who holds the position of the head of Microsoft now.   8. In 1975 the company Microsoft was formed. Microsoft helped to make the computer easier to use with its developed and purchased software, and made it a commercial success.The success of Microsoft began with the MS-DOS computer operating system that Gates licensed to IBM..

  9. Bill Gates is the chairperson and chief software architect of Microsoft Corporation, the worldwide leader in software services and Internet technologies for personal and business computing. At the age of 31 he became a billionaire. For such a rich person, his life is simple, and he spends little on himself and his family. Gates is very generous. He has already given huge amounts of money to charity, and says that he plans to give almost all of his wealth when he retires.

  10. On January 1, 1994 Bill Gates married Melinda French- a manager of Microsoft. They have 3 children – two daughters and a son. They live near Lake Washington. Interests of Gates include reading, golf,playing bridge. .

  11. Bill and Melinda Gates pay a great attention to charity. They donated 17 billion dollars to support education and improve health.

  12. Gates wrote 2 books. In 1995 - “The Road Ahead”,in which he described his views on the direction the society moves in connection with the development of the information technologies. • In 1999 – “Business @ the Speed of Thought”,which got a high appreciation of the critics , was issued in 25 languages and is sold in more than 60 countries of the world.

  13. In 1999there appeared problems with anti-monopoly committee of the USA . Many of the largest technology companies have fought legally against the actions of Microsoft, including Apple Computer, Netscape, Opera, WordPerfect and sun Microsystems..Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. Although he is widely admired, his business tactics have been criticized as anti-competitive and in some instances ruled as such in court. Since amassing his fortune, Gates has pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors, donating large amounts of money to various charitable organizations an scientific research programmes through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

  14. In 2005 William H.Gatesreceived an honorary knighthood from the queen of England. He was bestowed with the Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire forhis services in reducing poverty and improving health in the developing countries of the world.   15. In 1998 Gates handed the position of the President of the Microsoft Corporation over to Steve Ballmer. And now holds the positions of chairman and chief software architect and remains the largest individual shareholder with more than 8% of the common stock.

  16. 11 Bill Gates ‘ Rules. Bill Gates often attends school and often in his speech he mentions about 11 things , which as he considers , won’t be learned in school. He says that education in the spirit of politically correct teaching created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and will not be able to survive in this severe world.Here are some of them:

  17. Life is not fair – get used to it! • If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. • Television is not real life. In real life people have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs. • If you mess up , it’s not your parents’fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them. • Be nice in nerds. Chances are you will end up working for one.

  18. - You will not make $60.000 a year just after high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.- The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something before you feel good about yourself. • If you agree, pass it on. If you can read this – thank a teacher.

  19. I think Bill Gates is really a person of the century because he opened the windows into the whole world .I can’t imagine my life without computer and so do all the people of my age. Bill Gates is the legend of computer world, a powerful and a rich man. He is an example for the youngsters who are eagerly waiting for achievement.

  20. СONCLUSION • Bill Gates continues to play a very active role in the workings of the Microsoft Corporation. He is interested in biotechnology and is an investor in a number of biotechnology companies. • Bill Gates is one of the most influential people in the world. He is really a person who shook the world.
