  2. Habitat • The Kaiser newt is found in a small area in Iran • Lives in streams, Ponds and pooles

  3. Description • The Kaiser Newt has a long narrow yellow or orange – red stripe with white spots on black background. • Up to 4 in long. • Feed on small invertebrates in wild • In zoo they fed on small Crickets, fruit flies and black worms

  4. Food It eats small invert abates in the wild. In the zoos they eat small crickets, fruit flies, and black worms.

  5. Young(offspring) • They lay eggs in streams • The larva have long tails. • Spends first part of life in water.

  6. Predators • Humans because of its bright colors collectors want them.

  7. How many are left • There is less than1000 adults left.

  8. Reasons its endangered • Over collection for pet trade.

  9. How are we protecting it. • We are having breeding programs in the zoos.

  10. Other interesting facts • The kaiserspoted newt is also known as the luiristan newt or emperor newt can live up to 6 to 8 years.
