  3. WHAT IS A VIRUS? • It can get your • computer through… • Emails • Clicking on links • Dodgy websites A virus is something that can make your computer very sick! A virus is something that gets into your computer, then enables the creator to view things you have been looking at.

  4. It could kill your computer! But its not a real virus that makes you sick? What harm can it do? It could hack your Facebook! It could look at your pictures! It could access your bank details! It could take your money! It could delete your homework!

  5. HOW TO PREVENT THEM FROM HAPPENING Never open links on an email unless you know what is inside the link (e.g. a photograph for homework) Use anti virus software and update it regularly No matter how tempting it may look... Never click there! Only use websites you trust!

  6. Advantages and Disadvantages of Anti-Virus Software They could prevent you from going onto sites when you need to use it for research. They will show you what is safe to use and what isn’t. You need to update them regularly to stay on top of the viruses! They will protect your computer from viruses They could crash and let viruses through

  7. THE ILOVEYOU VIRUS If you got an email like this would you open it????? Yes you would! Everyone would, that is what a clever chap discovered. He created a worm that read the same as the above. When you opened it, the virus got into your computer and sent it to all of your contacts. It was created on the 4th May 2000 in the Philippines and within a few hours, had spread across the whole world! By the 14 May 50 million infections had been reported. The purpose was to over write important documents such as music files with copies of itself. Love letter for you pps To get rid of the virus, the Pentagon, CIA and Parliament had to shut off the computers and it would cost $5.5 billion to clear everyone else!

  9. What is hacking and what damage can they do? Hacking is when someone accesses something from your computer without your permission! They could get your pictures! They could access your Facebook! They could find your address!

  10. How can you stop them? 1. Don’t do this... Who has left their computer on tonight? Oh heres one, look at all of their pictures and details! I’m tired I’ll leave the computer on and go to sleep.

  11. Make sure you always turn off the computer when you’re not using it! Install a firewall to prevent hackers. Put a password on your computer!

  12. HACKERS: Black hat hackers: these people use their computer skills for bad things such as taking money or looking at classified information. Jonathon James: Was sentenced to prison at the age of sixteen for hacking lots of important places including software worth $1.7 billion from Nasa. Adrian Lamo: Is famous for hacking into The New York Times and Microsoft, using internet connection in a nearby cafe. Kevin Mitnick: famous for  hacking the Digital Equipment Corporation's computer network and stealing software. White hat hackers: These people use their skills for good, they might work for a company and try to break into the system to test the security or they might bend the law to create really cool stuff! Tsutomu Shimomura: Famous for being hacked by Kevin Mitnick and then helping the FBI bring him down. Stephen Wozniak: He works for Apple and is famous for founding Apple computers. Tim Berners-Lee: He is famous for creating the ‘World Wide Web’

  16. What Is The Cloud? Ever wondered where exactly that account is? Well its in the cloud! Like a cloud it has no proper location and floats about. Don’t worry though, it is perfectly safe and you always get your things back Got a Facebook account? Got a Twitter account? Got a Myspace account?
