  1. What Sin Costs Me Judges 13-16

  2. Sin Cost Samson His Sight • Judges 16:21 – Sin blinds us all. • 2 Cor. 4:3-4; 2 Peter 1:5-11; I John 2:9, 11 • We can’t see reality of situation. • We can’t see consequences. • We can’t see beauty of holiness.

  3. Sin Cost Him His Freedom • Sin enslaves. • Rom. 6:16-20; Prov. 5:22; John 8:34 • “I can quit anytime I want.” • Cursing; worry; murmuring; drugs; immorality. • We can “quit” anytime we want, but the “don’t want to” indicates the slavery.

  4. Sin Cost Him His Strength • Judges 16:19 • His strength wasn’t in his hair. It was in his relationship with God. • Sin weakens us. Even the strongest. • I Cor. 11:30 • Guilt destroys self confidence, and inhibits our confidence in our relationship with God.

  5. Sin Cost Him His Family and Friends • Prison in Gaza. No mom and dad there. • Sin divides us. • Isa. 59:1-2 – separates us from God. • Gen. 19 – from family. • Gal. 5:17-23 – from our better self. • 2 Thess 3:6 – from brethren.

  6. Sin Cost Him His Self-Respect • Judges 16:25 • How could I have fallen so far? • It can be regained, but only after repentance. • Even then, we bear the scars.

  7. Sin Cost Him His Life • Judges 16:30 • Rom. 6:23 – Wages of sin is death. • James 1:15 – sin brings forth death. • Rev. 21:8 – the “second death”. • We need to look at sin with different eyes. It is serious.
