El poema escogido se titula: “ Si mi voz muriera en tierra” y se incluye en su obra: “Marinero en Tierra” (1925). The chosen poem is entitled: “If my voice died in land” is included in his work: “Sailor in land”.
“Si mi voz muriera en tierra” “If my voice died in land” If my voice died in land, take it to sea level and leave it in the shore. take it to sea level and appoind in captain of a war vessel. El tema del poema es la nostalgia del mar y el deseo de no morir lejos de él;por ello el mar es su paraíso perdido y deseado. The poem is about the missing of the sea and the desire of not dying far from it; that’s why the sea Is his lost and wished paradise.
El poeta se siente tan identificado con el mar que no quiere separarse de él ni siquiera después de la muerte. The poet feels himself so joined to the sea that doesn’t want to be away from it even after death.
Por eso pide que si muere en tierra, su voz sea llevada a la orilla del mar, y que sea nombrada simbólicamente como capitana de un barco de guerra. That’s why he asks his voice to be taken to the sea in case he died on land and he also Asks it to be named as captain of a war ship.
