  3. Church as Reconciler Restoring what has been broken Reuniting what has been divided The Church must be like • ‘a field hospital after battle’ • healing the wounds of its faithful • going out to find the hurt & those excluded or fallen away.

  4. The key is for the Church to welcome, not exclude . . . show mercy, not condemnation

  5. The Church as Home This Church with which we should be thinking is the home of all, not a small chapel that can hold only a small group of selected people.

  11. Are we still the Church of Emmaus capable of: Warming hearts? Leading people back to Jerusalem? Bringing them home?

  12. Jerusalem is where our roots are • Scripture • Catechesis • Sacraments • Community • Friendship with the Lord ... Mary ... the Apostles

  13. LET US PRAY TOGETHER God of life and promise, protect us, your pilgrim people. As we journey towards our home in heaven, bless us with a sense of adventure and a sense of security. As we seek to be home-makers here on earth, with our loved ones and in our parish and regional community, may we create for each other an experience of Christian welcome that puts us in touch with you and gives us a foretaste of what home will be like forever. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life now and forever. AMEN
