  2. The Case for Line-Item Budgets • Transparency--people need to know how money is being spent • People will give if they see we need money • Showing 11 months of being “in-the-red” is inspiring • There is no case for presenting a line-item budget

What is a Ministry-Focused Budget? • Describes your budget in terms of mission and ministry • Demonstrates you are doing what you said you would do • Helps connect $5 in the plate with $5 worth of ministry (for Baby Boomers—a ministry investment) • Shows you are making a difference in the lives of others

Ministry Categories • Pastoral Care—LEV’s, Stephen Ministry, Daughters of the King, Funerals, Counseling, Clergy • Worship—Altar Guild, Ushers, Acolytes, Clergy, Music • Communication—Website, Newsletters, Clergy, Administrative Staff, Assessment • Christian Formation—Bible Studies, Retreats, Youth Group, Children’s Choirs, Confirmation, Clergy, Adult Education, New Member Classes • Outreach/Mission—Mission trips, Blood Drives, Missionary Support, Assessment
