  1. Sound Healing and Traditional Indian Music Clanging of utensils in the kitchen, hammering work going on in a construction site, honking of vehicles on the streets, are some examples of unpleasant sounds. On the contrary, the chirping of birds, the sound of gentle breeze swaying through the trees, the gurgling of a jungle stream, are sounds which soothe and please the senses. This goes to prove that sound has a lot to do with altering the psyche and mood of all living beings, leave alone humans. And you know that it does not require a rocket science to understand or comprehend that. It’s obvious and self-evident! Even the inaudible sounds, or ultrasonic sounds, as we say, have the capacity to permeate the body and work wonders. As a performer, practitioner and teacher of Indian Classical Music, I have been having close encounters with the magic of sound and its ability to create moments of bliss and divinity in my life and the lives of people I have been coming in contact with. Our traditional Indian Music is deep-rooted in the principles of sound-healing and vibrational medicine. Be it the folk melodies traversing through the lands of this country or the Indian ragas which have been a rich treasure of therapeutic and restorative sounds, we have been preserving and propagating the wonders of sound and sound healing through our music.

  2. Sound healing works on the idea of your mind and body operating at certain vibrations, and those vibrations can be manipulated with the help of sound waves. Since our bodies are composed of about 60 percent water, they make fantastic conductors for the vibrations of sound waves. It is the resonance in our bodies which is produced by the sound waves. The principle of this resonance is used to harmonize cells, and potentially re-tune them to their baseline vibrational frequency.Sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, stress management, PTSD, depression, pain management – many ailments, one solution – sound healing. Taking on to the benefits and bounties our traditional Indian music has to offer in the realms of sound healing, our Music+ retreats are an excellent way to relax, rejuvenate and unwind through singing and chanting, and that too in the most exotic locations around the world. It is always more powerful and pre-activated experience to practice Indian classical music in a quiet and serene location, away from the jangles and disquiet of everyday life. The powers can be felt instantly in our retreats. Not only the participants, but I, as a teacher have also felt the magic-moments overpower my body and mind, enabling me to dive deep into the vast ocean of music and come out with rich treasures of craftsmanship, knowledge and a handful of sound practices helpful in making my life’s journey more meaningful and rewarding.
