  1. 5 Ways to Influence Your Kids to Wear Helmets

  2. Make Safety Fun Keeping your kids safe is more important that keeping yourself safe because kids have softer skulls and therefore a higher likelihood of injury. The simplest way to encourage kids to wear helmets is to make safety fun and not an imposition on them. Gamify the process and continue to keep them enthused about wearing helmets.

  3. Give Them A Decision-making Right Instead of buying a kid’s helmet and asking them to wear it unconditionally, give them the power of making a good choice, or at least the illusion of doing it. Lay down 5-10 helmets that you hand-pick based on the minimum safety parameters that are necessary to make the helmet worth your money. Once they take a pick, check whether it meets all the important parameters and based on that make the final buying decision.

  4. Looks Matter More To Kids, Safety Should Matter To You Kids are more concerned with how the helmet looks rather than what in-built features they have to protect the wearer. So, while your kid focuses on the looks of the helmet, you should focus on checking the important life-saving features. Once you have filtered through all of the important features, go ahead with the buying decision.

  5. Lead By Example Instead of forcing your kids to wear helmets, wear a helmet every day and give you kids all the right reasons to wear a helmet themselves. Young children are very impressionable and they take on to anything they see. So, if they see good things, they start doing good things, and wrong things if they start seeing negative examples more often. The easiest way to make your kids start with good habits is to expose them to positive things consistently.

  6. Stay Consistent Continuing from our previous point of consistency, you need to stay on point and repetitively keep on impressing the importance of wearing helmets to your kids. Kids have fleeting attention spans and if you keep don’t give them a good reason to pay attention to something, they will most definitely forget about it. So, at every opportunity, reinforce the idea of wearing helmets to your kids.
