  1. 5 Tips to Maintain Helmet Hygiene

  2. Take the Helmet Apart Safely Before cleaning, make sure to take apart all the Child parts apart, such as the visors, the inner lining and padding and the strapping mechanism (only if it is removable). This will make it easy for you to clean the helmet. If you do not know whether the helmet can be taken apart, make sure to check the manufacturers website to know more about the model of your helmet. Be very gentle while removing the parts.

  3. Soak the Helmet in Baby Shampoo Once all the ingredients but of the helmet has been removed, so the inner lining and padding separately in a warm soap solution, or you can also use a little bit of baby shampoo. It is highly recommended to use a dedicated helmet cleaning solution which you can purchase at any motorcycle accessories shop near you. In a separate bucket, soak the outer shell of the helmet any similarly prepared warm water solution. Let both of this soak for about 15 to 20 minutes.

  4. Wash Under Running Water  Now, take the inner lining and padding out of the soap solution and wash it under running tap water. Using your hands, make a gentle rocking motion to coax the dirt and grime from the inner lining and padding, while continuing to wash it under running water. This will take about 5 minutes. Repeat the process with the helmet shell, and allow both of them to dry naturally in air. Make sure not to place them under direct harsh sunlight.

  5. Polish, Wax& Deodorize Once the helmet shell has dried out completely, use a little bit of Carnuba wax to polish the outer surface very gently using a soft cotton cloth to buff of the additional product. if you do not have wax, you can also use a similar chemical product which can be easily purchased online or at any motorcycle accessories shop near you. Finally, spray a little bit of helmet deodorizer on the inner part of the helmet so that it remains smelling fresh for a long period of time. It is highly recommended to use the helmet deodorizer whenever you get an opportunity, ideally after every week.

  6. Reassemble the Helmet Once all the polishing and buffing has been done, reassemble the helmet making sure to put back the parts in its original order. It might be helpful for you to do that by snapping a photograph of the helmet before taking it apart in the first place. Do not tighten the screws very hard, but make sure that they're not lose either!
