  1. Choose Your Own Adventure Stories By Mrs. Bushman Laird School

  2. Getting A Little Inspiration. • Use a mind mapping software (such as Inspiration) to diagram how your story will look.

  3. Map it out. • Each bubble should represent a slide and should point to two outcomes. • Ultimately, the goal is for each set of outcomes to end up on the same ending slide. Numbering each circle can help with this. Make sure you include a title slide in the numbering.

  4. It’s A Set Up. • Create the blank slides. You will have a title slide first, then the rest will be blank. • Remember, the slide numbers will be correlating with the numbers you assigned on the story map.

  5. It’s all in the details. • Add in the details each slide tells for your story. Be sure to add graphics. • Add a separate space where the selections are going to be made to continue on the next story. These should be in the form of a question.

  6. Button it up! • Once you have written your story pieces on the slides, it’s time to add the buttons. • Click on Slide Show, Action Buttons. • There are a number of uses for these buttons, our primary use will be to move to a specific slide.

  7. Customize! • In the sub menu for Action Buttons, click Custom.

  8. Location, location, location. • Your cursor will change to look like two intersecting lines. • Go to the location of your questions, then click and drag the cursor to create the square button. You can resize this button later if you want.

  9. The big set up. • When you release the mouse, this box will pop up. • Click Hyperlink To • Then click Slide.

  10. Select the slide. • Click on the slide number you want this button to take the reader to. If you are unsure which slide, there is a nice preview pane for you to see what is on the slide for verification. • Click OK.

  11. Appearances. • Control + Click on the button and select Format Shape.

  12. Picture Perfect. • In the pop-up box, click on Fill on the left corner. • Click on the button marked picture. • Click on Choose a picture and select your picture for the button. • Click OK.

  13. Multiply. • You’ll now need to replicate the action buttons for each slide. This is where the map on Inspiration comes in handy.

  14. Sum It Up. • This includes a button on the final slide of the story that will take the reader back to the beginning to try another adventure!
