  15. Gives you new or different research funding opportunities to pursue. Attracts new students and young scientists with different interests and talents --- adding depth to your team. Periodically reinvent your program……

  16. Often, to achieve success in doing this, those new research directions will be related to your current productive programs

  18. A couple of take home messages---- What has worked for me………. #3 -- Always look down the road about 2 to 3 years…. Keep an eye out for new opportunities and always be aware of the limits of your resources.
