  2. Classification of Fashion and Types of Design Fashion is classified into the following , such as: • Style • Basic or classic • Fad • Style: is always constant. - is the basic outline of any garment. - It does not change whereas fashion changes.

Cont… • When and if there is consumer support the style then becomes fashion. • Basic or classic When a fashion is constant or long lasting, such as, salwarkameez and saree, it is called basic or Classic. There are many outfits that fall into this classification, such as, shirt and trousers, plain or pleated skirts and denims, etc

  5. Cont… • Fad Fad can be defined as short lived fashion, lasting for a very little time or period, acceptable by only a certain group of people. For example, hippies. Very often something appears on the fashion scene that captures the imagination, only to fizzle out in short duration.

Fashion shows debut every season, particularly the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons. • The two most influential fashion weeks are Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week, which are both semiannual events.
