  3. The Key is to plan ahead!

  4. Actual Email! Hello! I am the new SkillsUSA advisor for Grayson Tech. I am trying to get things together this week so I can have an informational meeting about SkillsUSA and Fall Leadership next week. I am completely new at this. I want to have a strong chapter and take lots of students to the competitions. Do you have any Promo videos, info, PowerPoints, handouts, etc. that would explain SkillsUSA further to the students and things I could use to get involved. Any info will be helpful. Thanks so much for your time!

  5. Follow Up Steps (New Advisor Recruitment Tracker)

  6. SkillsUSA Update • Sent twice a month • Mirrors the opportunities listed in the National Executive Update along with state specific information • Best communication resource!

  7. Make it Easy for them! • Website – automatic “request a Membership Kit” • Conferences, school meetings – Teacher Information Form to gather data • When they call you – complete the Teacher Information Form on the phone with them.

  8. Use Your Resources • Talk to other state directors and find out what has worked for them – they are so willing to share – Minnesota, Rhode Island, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Ohio and others have all shared with me.

  9. Moving Forward • Find a few ideas that you like and that you can easily incorporate. • Make a plan and then work from there. • Tweak, re-evaluate as you go.
