The “bloodless revolution”

  • The Stuart king was removed from the thrones of England, Scotland, and Ireland.

  • Replaced by William and Mary of the house of orange.

  • The English revolution of 1688 it was known as the “bloodless revolution”

  • Completed England's process of changing from Roman catholic to a protestant nation.

What happened?

  • The Glorious Revolution was when the aristocracy and parliament came out on top. In 1688 a lot of the political people didn’t like the new king, James II, for some of his ambitions and his Catholicism. A powerful group of English aristocrats, called the Whigs, promised James's Protestant daughter Mary and her husband William of Orange, their allegiance if they would invade Britain and depose James.
