  2. The UAE’s gross domestic product will rise more than 15% by 2022, according to a report by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The total contribution of tourism to UAE’s GDP is expected to increase from $49.5 billion in December 2012 to $75 billion by 2022, a rise by 4.3% annually or an equivalent of 14.6% of the country’s GDP. WTTC said that UAE tourism attracted capital investment of $20.78 billion in 2012. This  number is projected to increase further in the coming ten years to $37.9 billion yearly. Tourism projects will amount to 26.7% of the total national investment by 2022

The Bluewaters Island project A new ($1.6bn) island development to be built off the coast of Dubai is the latest in a series of mega projects to be unveiled in the emirate with the aim of attracting more tourists. The Bluewaters Island project, which is being built near Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), will feature a new landmark for Dubai - the world's tallest Ferris wheel. Known as the Dubai Eye, the structure will stand 210 metres (688 feet), exceeding the London Eye's 135m (443ft). The Dubai Eye alone will cost Dhs1bn to build.

The Aldar World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi’s tallest building will be ready for residents by early 2014, the developer behind the project said on Monday. The Residences at World Trade Centre is 382m high and includes 89 floors of apartments. The project has a total of 98 floors because of additional space towards the top of the building, the developer Aldar said.
