  2. How do I begin? Some classes are “automatic” . . . Some are required . . . Some are “elective” . . . What do I want to do after I graduate? What are some things I might enjoy? Is my schedule balanced? Can I handle it?

  3. Minimum Graduation Requirements For Students Entering 9th Grade in 2014/2015 • Complete 24 credits • 2.0 GPA • Pass 10th grade State Reading Assessment • Pass Algebra 1 EOC • 1 course completed through online learning

  4. Standard Diploma Graduation Requirements • 4 credits of English (ACR) • 4 credits of Math including Alg 1 & Geo (ACR) • 3 credits of Science (1 must be Biology) (ACR) • 3 credits of Social Studies (ACR) (American Government*, World History, American History, Economics*) • 1 credit of Health Opportunities through Phys Ed. • 1 credit of performing fine art • Minimum of ½ credit of reading (ACR)

  5. Scholar Designation In addition to the Standard Diploma Requirements: • Math credits must include Alg. 2 and Statistics (or equally rigorous course) • 2 years of the same foreign language • Pass the USH and Bio 1 EOC • Chemistry and Physics (or equally rigorous course) • 1 Credit in an AP or Dual Enrollment course

  8. 9th Grade Courses Automatic Course Requests will include recommendations for: English Math Social Studies (US Government) Science Reading HOPE (Required to graduate) A Computer Course (Keyboarding & Business Skills* , Emerging Technology*, or Computing for College & Career)

  9. 9th Grade Reading Courses • Intensive Reading 1 (2 period Block) • Intensive Reading 2 (Read 180 – 2 period Block) • Intensive Reading A • Advanced Communication Methods • Advanced Reading • Semantics & Logic

  10. Elective Choices You will choose 8 credits of Electives Order them in preference beginning with #1. Some options are ½ credit Not all choices will be part of schedule. No guarantees about elective choices can be made prior to the start of the school year. Course descriptions can be found on the school website

  24. IMPORTANT !!!!! Due to the requirements of the Class Size Reduction Amendment, requests for schedule changes may be denied as classes reach maximum legal capacity!

  25. Other details • School starts at 7:33AM • Release time is 3:00PM • Each class is 50 minutes in length • Lunch is also 50 minutes (4th, 5th or 6th)
