  2. Situation Factors • 24 students – sophomore level General Microbiology • Biology or Chemistry majors • Lecture – 3 days a week for 50 minutes • Lab – once a week for 3 hours (same instructor as lecture) • Small room with rows of tables and chairs

  3. Objectives • Identify key background information from validated sources about handwashing and incorporate into introduction • Use scientific method to design an experiment • Interpret and draw conclusions from results in experiment • Demonstrate knowledge of proper citation • Take information from lab and synthesize it into a lab report

Students design a lab to test purpose of handwashing Wednesday Lab Monday Friday Discuss muddy points Discuss articles in groups (list of question) Discuss figures and scientific articles as a class Discuss looking for articles on own Review on Scientific Method based off of moodle quiz Unit 2 Wednesday Class Unit 2 Tuesday Sunday Thursday Saturday Read article on how to read a scientific article and AIJC article on handwashing Post on moodle – three things that confused you and how 2 articles related to each other Review Scientific method Do scientific method quiz on moodle Continue looking for background articles for introduction (email me a list of ones they have found) Think about data they want to collect for lab (email me # of plates needed) Research background papers for lab introduction Gather supplies for lab
