Trade and Markets East Africa (TradeMark) Regional & national – 7 offices, one in each EAC PS capital, one in Arusha and HQ in Nairobi Not-for-profit registered in all partner states – facilitator Multi-donor, pooled fund – Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, UK , and WB Budget - $500m 2010-2016

TMEA trade facilitation projects Objective: to support initiatives to facilitate trade and to develop more efficient transport corridors • Improvements in trade Infrastructure at Ports and Border Posts • Mombasa and Dar ports through support to Kenya Port Authority and Tanzania Port Authority • Lungalunga/Hororo,Taveta/Holili,Isebania/Sirari,Busia and Katuna( With the WB) • Kagitumba/Mirama,Mutukula,Kobero/Kabanga.Cyanika.Mpondwe,Tunduma/Nakonde( with respective govts) • Reduction of Non Tariff Barriers. • Support to NMC’s • Support to EAC to facilitate development of NTB monitoring mechanism • Review of Rules of Origin • Supported study to guide review

TMEA trade facilitation projects • ICT for Trade through ASSET, SWIFT, Transport Observatories ,SMS NTB monitoring and support to Revenue Authorities. • Rwanda SWS • Observatory on the Northern Corridor • SMS NTB monitoring launched in Tanzania • -Upgrading of customs management systems( National and RADDEX) • Support to the East African Clearing and Forwarding Curriculum. • Support through national and regional training coordinators (FEAFFA project) • Support through TA (Capacity building expert at the EAC Secretariat) • Support to the SCT High Level Task Force • Support through provision of TA • Support through studies • Logistical support for meetings

EAC achievements to date • OSBPs underway : Holili 90% complete, Mutukula 60% • OSBP Bill finalised awaiting presentation to EALA • First business online SMS reporting system for NTBs launched (TZ) • EAC Customs Management Regulations finalised • Interconnectivity feasibility study finalised • Training of trainers (RADDEX) concluded • RADDEX pilot to be launched in Nov 2012 • Single Window installed and operational in Rwanda • NTB Bill approved • Rules of Origin study concluded • Dar port -feasibility study & design on berths 1-7 complete by end 2012 • HLTF on SCT operational
