  2. Early life • Marco polo was born on 1254. • He was born and raised in Venice • His father and uncle were merchants and traders • His father was also a slave • He had commercial knowledge of French and Italian

  3. Marco Polo’s Father • Marco’s father and uncle were venetian merchants. • When his dad and his uncle left to china they met Kublai Khan and promised they will go back to china one day • Kublai Khan was a Buddhist he was interested in Europeans religion in which Marco’s father informed him of

First Journey • Marco’s father decided to take Marco Polo with him on his journey. • Marco Polo was 17 when he went on his first journey and he was really looking forward to meet Kublai Khan • Marco polo’s first journey was the first Journey to ever get across the silk road. • No one ever tried to travel the silk road before that

  5. Traveling the Silk Road • Marco polo was traveling the silk road for a about 4 years • Marco polo was the first one to travel the silk road • Marco Polo traveled the Gobi desert and crossed Persia when he was traveling the silk road

  6. Marco Polo in China • Marco Polo finally got to China in the year 1275 • He worked with Kublai khan as an ambassador • Marco polo described the Mongol empire Kin-sai “The city of heaven”

  7. Leaving China • Kublai Khans last command for Marco polo was to escort a princess to Persia. • The Polo's went to Constantinople so they can go straight to Venice • Before they even reached Persia the Chieftain of the crew died

  8. Arriving back to Italy • When Marco polo arrived in Italy he arrived in Venice • Marco polo joined the venetian navy • He was held as a prisoner of war by the city of Genoas • They didn’t let him go until the war was over

  9. Marco Polo’s Death • Marco Polo died after he was released from prison in 1324 • He was 70 years old • Stories say that days before his death he was forced to admit he invented all the stories of his book but Marco said that everything was true and that he all he had written was not even half of his adventure
