  1. “Anxious” – “Careful” • Greek word (Phil 4:6) – "to be pulled in different directions". • Old English root word for "worry" – "to strangle". • Worry places a body at risk of physical health problems & poor physical habits. • "The Father knows" what you need, so seek the kingdom of God & His righteousness (Matt 6:25-34; Luke 12:22-31).

  2. Pray the Right Way - 6, 7 • “Prayer” is addressing God. • Do we address Him as our Father? • Do we express supreme love & respect for Him? • Do we express our total devotion to Him? • Consider these attributes of God when you pray (Eph 4:6; Rom 11:33-36;)

  3. Pray the Right Way - 6, 7 • “Supplication” is the earnest expression of our concerns to God; our requests. • Strenuous physical & emotional effort (Heb 5:7-8; Luke 22:42-44; Rom 15:30-32; Col 4:12) • Spiritual requests were emphasized

  4. Pray the Right Way - 6, 7 • “Thanksgiving” is the expression of our appreciation to God for what He does for us. • Of the ten lepers healed, only one received an added blessing for being thankful (Luke 17:11-19). • Jesus said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well [whole]."

  5. Think the Right Way - 8 • Isa 26:3– You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for in Jehovah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

  6. Think the Right Way - 8 • “Whatever is true” • God is the Source of Truth (Psa 19:9; Rev 16:7) • He works for our good (Rom 8:26-28) • All is possible (Jer 32:17, 27; Luke 1:37; 18:27)

  7. Think the Right Way - 8 • “Whatever is noble (honest) & just” • Worthy of respect, right (fair, equitable) • Chooses to look on the bright side • Looks for things he can commend • David praised even King Saul (2 Sam 1:11, 23-25)

  8. Think the Right Way - 8 • “Whatever is pure, lovely, & of good report” • Pure: moral purity • Lovely: acceptable or pleasing • Good report: well spoke of • King David kept his mind on these things (Psa 63; 119:47-48; 139:17-18)

  9. Think the Right Way - 8 • “Whatever has virtue & is praiseworthy” • Virtuous thoughts motivate moral excellence • Praiseworthy thoughts are worth commending • Add to our faith is virtue (2 Pet 1:5)

Think the Right Way - 8 • Psa 19:7-9 –The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

  11. Live the Right Way - 9 Right living is the result of thinking right & praying right! • Phil 4:9 – The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
