  1. EQ: Why not drink lake water? Hand back graded work and staple the 2 grades into ISN 27. Go over Tests T-Chart on page ISN 29 Video clip: Protists HW: Carefully Read Chapter 3,Section 1.

  2. October 14-16 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) ****Handback Test and go over each question with classes. 1. Read Ch 3, Sections 1 & 2. 2.Fill in Note-taking worksheet for those sections 3.“Protists” Power Point print out to fill in Protest Guided Notes 4.Attach the Protists Guide Notes into ISN pg 29. 5.On ISN 28 create 3 colored diagrams, one for each of the protists in your notes (Amoeba, Paramecium, & Euglena).  Label the structures in each and explain what each structure does. Note: Your book (Ch 3, sec 2) would be helpful to use.

  4. A. Protists are organisms that are classified into the kingdom Protista. B. There is a lot of variety within the protists; they do share some common characteristics 1. a nucleus with a nuclear membrane 2. usually one-celled 3. live in moist environments

  5. C. Protists are grouped by the way they moveand obtain food: 1. Protists with Pseudopods(example: amoebas) a. move by extending their bodies forward and then pulling the rest of their bodies forward as well. b. the finger-like structures that they project forward are called pseudopods (false feet) i. pseudopods are also used to trapfood

  7. 2. Protists with Cilia(example: Paramecium) a. move by beating tiny hair-like structures called cilia b. cilia act like tiny oars that allow the protistto move through its watery environment c. cilia also beat and help capture food

  9. 3. Protists with Flagella(example: Euglena) a. move by pulling themselves with long whip-likestructure called flagella. b. can have one or more flagella that help them move. c. Euglena are unique in that it has characteristics of both a plant and an animal. i. it contains chloroplasts that photosynthesize and also consume other organisms as well.
