  3. Common Interests Beginning with a strong commitment to children and young people, especially those suffering educational disadvantage

  4. Strong desire to • Ensure best outcomes for children in general • Ensure they reach their full potential: emotionally, physically, spiritually, socially, creatively as well as cognitively • Make a difference to their lives through quality practices, quality research, policy development, advocacy and increased Government investment • Maximise on the different perspectives, experiences, learning, goals and skills of a varied membership

  5. Create opportunities for joined up thinking, inter agency collaboration and co operation with other groups working in the field e.g. SACCI • Use the establishment of the City and County Childcare Committees to progress the Out of School agenda at local level • Use developments at National level such as the establishment of the OMC • Impact positively on school culture, school practice

  6. Ensure schools are realised more as a community resource • Identify and replicate what works in promoting best outcomes for children and young people • Develop greater co ordination in the development and delivery of Out of School services. • Facilitate agreement on best practice • Increase children’s and young people’s ability to attain within the formal educational system and find an appropriate education or training pathway.

  7. The Conference Agenda • Put a collective national focus on Out of School services • Bring together the broad range of groups with an Out of School Agenda • Initiate different conversations between a diverse range of players • Encourage and stimulate the networking process • Stimulate national thinking in relation to Out of School services as a means of addressing Educational Disadvantage • Explore different concepts in relation to Out of School Services and Educational Disadvantage • Package the passion • Increase the potential of the group to be an influential coalition for change in the lives of children and young people
