  4. TSM Suite for Unified Recovery Entry

  5. TSM Suite for Unified Recovery Entry • TSM Suite for Unified Recovery Entry is a new bundled offering designed to make it easier for price sensitive small and medium sized customers gain entry to the feature-rich capabilities of the Tivoli Storage Manager family. • This bundled offering includes the same 10 TSM products that are included in TSM Suite for Unified Recovery. • Scalability is limited Product Structure • New offering with single terabyte tier (1-100TB) • Trade-up to TSM SUR • Provides all the function of TSM SUR with limitations • Limited to 100TB primary storage pool per Enterprise • Limited to 2 TSM Servers per Enterprise • Announcement June 12 2012 • eGA/pGA June 15 2012 IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  6. Tivoli Storage Manager Suite for Unified Recovery Entry 6.3Overview • One offering includes 10 TSM and FastBack products • Can install as many of these products as needed for the environment without charge • As customers use any of the 10 bundled capabilities, they generate TB that are stored within TSM • Per TB capacity charge is for data stored within TSM primary pools and FastBack repositories • Easily measured with one simple command that runs in minutes • No per TB charge for TSM copy pool data (copies of data in primary storage pools) • Limited to 100TB and 2 TSM Servers IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  7. TSM Suite for Unified Recovery Entry - Positioning Positioning • Offering is designed for customers whose entire enterprise (including all locations) will not exceed 100 TB of TSM-managed data (including growth) within the first 2 years of use. • Assuming the average of 3TB managed (back end) for every 1TB of production data (front end), this translates to target customers with: • 15TB-25TB of front-end production data to be protected • Growing at 15%-50% per year • Customers who use TSM deduplication to store their backups can usually achieve higher capacities • Customer would have to trade-up to TSM SUR and pay a trade-up fee for TB > 100 • Customers with more than 25TB of front-end production data experiencing significant growth should consider purchasing TSM SUR to avoid having to pay a trade-up charge on their 2nd or 3rd transaction IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  8. TSM Suite for Unified Recovery Entry - Pricing Pricing • $2,300 per TB (Back-end data) • Symantec Backup Exec $6,016 per TB (Front-end data) • If we put these prices on the same basis, we are competitive • 1TB of production data can typically equal 2.5TB to 3TB on the back-end managed date, depending on versioning/deduplication etc… • TSM Suite for Unified Recovery Entry will use the same capacity measurement script as TSM Suite for Unified Recovery to measure capacity compliance. • http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21500482 IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  9. Trading up to TSM SUR • When your ‘Entry’ customer grows beyond the 100TB primary storage pool limitation, they will have to trade-up to TSM SUR. • There is a charge to trade-up IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  11. TSM Suite for Unified Recovery – Archive Option

  12. TSM Suite for Unified Recovery – Archive Option The ‘TSM Suite for Unified Recovery - Archive Option’ is intended to provide Sales with a more competitive price point and consumable approach for selling TSM archive data capacity Product Structure • New chargeable component (part number) under the existing TSM SUR suite capacity pricing structure • Flat $1030 per TB price, applicable for data which meets the following criteria: • Data generated via an archive operation and classified as ‘archive’ in TSM • Data residing in the primary storage pool on tape or virtual tape • Ann / GA Schedule • Announcement: June 12, 2012 • eGA: June 15, 2012 IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  13. TSM SUR V6.3 with new Archive Option • One offering includes 10 TSM and FastBack products • Can install as many of these products as needed for the environment without additional charge • As customers use any of the 10 bundled capabilities, they generate TBs which are stored within TSM • Per TB capacity charge is for data stored within TSM primary pools and FastBack repositories • Easily measured with one simple administrative command that runs in minutes • TSM SUR – Archive Option is a new chargeable component (part number) under the existing TSM SUR PID with a lower price point (flat $1030 per TB) applicable to archive data residing on tape or virtual tape IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  14. Follow Best Practices to Achieve Cost Savings • Customers will immediately benefit from the Archive Option pricing tier by performing periodic archives and deleting this data from the host systems • Provides a financial incentive for customers to properly archive data • Allows existing TSM customers to redeploy TSM SUR licenses to accommodate growth of remaining backup data • Offers new TSM SUR customers a method of reducing license costs and data in the backup stream • Tivoli Storage Productivity Center (TPC) can be used to help customers identify archive data candidates • Customers may also see benefits by performing periodic archives and simultaneously reducing the retention period of their backup data • For many existing TSM customers, this will require a change in data management policies in order to see the financial benefits • TSM Customers who already use TSM Archive with tape or VTL will see financial benefit as they redeploy ‘freed up’ TSM SUR license capacity • A ‘Best Practices’ guide is under construction and will be available at time of GA Note: No price/revenue credit will be provided to customers for previously licensed TSM SUR capacity IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  15. Potential License Cost Savings for Clients Assumes that client follows ‘Best Practices’ - archiving select data and deleting from host system, reducing expiration period on backup data, and deleting other unneeded aged data. If these practices are not employed, savings would be greatly reduced or non-existent. IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

  16. Archive Option Pricing is limited to specific types of data • The TSM SUR - Archive Option price will be applied only to data which meets certain criteria: • Data must be generated via an archive operation and be classified as ‘archive’ by TSM • Data that is classified by TSM as ‘archive’, yet is ingested into TSM via other than an archive operation (TSM for ERP backup data) does not qualify for this Archive Option pricing • Data must reside on tape or virtual tape • TSM recognizes VTLs as physical tape and measures the amount of data sent to the device; subsequent VTL deduplication does not reduce the capacity measurement for pricing purposes • An ‘administrative macro command’ script, similar to that which is used with TSM SUR today, will measure and report the capacity that qualifies for the Archive Option price IBM Internal and Business Partners Only

These are OEM products that are purchased separately * Data Replicated from FastBack to a TSM Primary Storage pools is also excluded from measurement, this data represent DR copies of data and is excluded from TSM Suite for Unified Recovery capacity * Other Duplicated Data represents data reported in PRIMARY storage that is a duplication of data already stored through other means. *---------------- Details on Excluded Data ---------------* Storage pools of type COPY or ACTIVE: 29.87 TB TSM SUR- Archive Option will utilize a modified version of the current ‘administrative macro command’ (script) available today for measuring TSM SUR data capacity Backup and Archive data applicable to TSM SUR and TSM SUR – Archive Option pricing will be measured and reported similar to shown in example report to right  Measuring capacity in primary server storage pools Example Only IBM Internal and Business Partners Only
