  2. State & Federal Programs Federal and State grant funds must SUPPLEMENT and not SUPPLANT district funds. Funds are awarded for specific purposes; the district superintendent signs ASSURANCES to guarantee appropriate use of funds.

Title I - $1, 099,051.00(Carryover - 250K) • Title I Lead Teachers – salaries and benefits (all schools) • Preschool and Kindergarten Literacy Specialist (JD) • Intervention Support Teachers (all schools) • Supplemental Classroom Reading Materials – Action 100 (JD, EW, MS) • Online Instruction Licenses – ALEKS, PLATO, First In Math (MS, HS) • Supplemental Education Services (SES) tutoring (MS, HS) • Extended Day and Saturday School • Summer Learning Academy

Administrative Costs • Must be necessary and directly related to operation of the grant program • Can be charged to some grants – limited to 15 % - 2% of the grant total; some grants to not allow administrative costs. • Examples: Title I = 5% 21st Century – 15% Title I School Improvement = 0%

  12. Grant Administrator Duties • Maintain and monitor the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP) for the district and schools with input from the District Leadership Team; complete annual grant applications in the CCIP • Align budgets for all state and federal grants to targeted strategies in the District and School Improvement Plans. • Manage purchasing and contracting within grant guidelines and district fiscal policies. • Supervise grant funded positions in collaboration with building principals: • Title I Lead Teachers, PreK/K Literacy Specialist, HS/MS Math Coach, Intervention Support Teachers, Parent Liaisons, 21st Century Site Coordinator • Ensure Federal and State reporting is timely and accurate. • Collaborate with the Director of School Improvement and principals to plan and implement grant funded initiatives: • Extended Day, Saturday School, Summer Learning Academy, Action 100, PBIS • Arrange for Title I services as required in ESEA regulations: • Supplemental Education Services, Nonpublic Services, Support for Homeless Youth

Seeking GrantsHow can we generate grants to meet district needs using limited district funds? • Partner with county agencies or organizations that have staff resources to support grant development • Examples: County Public Library, County Board of Health • Partner with the City of Warrensville Heights to collaboratively seek grant resources for schools • Identify a grant writer willing to work on retainer who would only be paid for successful grant awards • Contract with a professional grant writing company for short term development services. • Publicize procedures and provide guidance for district employees who wish to write grants for schools
