abjure Context clues: The astronomer Galileo was forced to forswear his theory of the rotation of the earth.He has recanted the wrong ways after his release from jail.
jurisdiction The volunteer fire department only has jurisdiction within one township. The officer from Texas had no jurisdiction in this county.
jurist If you have a masters in law you must be a jurist. Judge Harry Lewis is considered a jurist of the law because of the 30 years experience in the court system.
just All of the groups involved agreed that the decision was a just one and they were at peace. The students had a difficult time passing the test so the teacher felt it was just for a retake.
justificaton Does negative behavior ever have a justification in the classroom? A student wanted to use bad weather as a justification for not coming to school.
justify Parents are always asking kids to justify the price of video games by saying, “Why is this video so expensive?” When students don’t turn in their homework they try to justify a good reason to their teacher.
perjury A better way to make sure people tell the truth in school is to make perjury the most serious of rules. The parent asked the child if she eat the last cookie. The child says, “No, I promise,” dispite the cookie crumbs on her face! “Perjury” says the mom.
