Class Responsibilities • Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful • Listen and Learn • Homework = Send home on Monday with all work & turn in by Friday!! • To Do at Home: • Practice Math Facts!!! • Practice Spelling • Practice Handwriting • Read, read, read !!! • 20 minutes recommended work each night for 2nd graders

Basic Schedule • 8:00 – 8:10 Arrival • 8:10 – 8:30 Morning Work • 8:30 – 10:30 Language Arts • Wonders Reading, Journals, Spelling, Grammar, Workshop, Etc. • 10:30 – 11:00 Social Studies • 11:00 – 11:30 Lunch • 11:30 – 11:55 Recess & Restrooms • 12:00 – 1:00 Specials • 1:00 – 2:30 Math • Envision Math, Workshop • 2:30 – 3:00 Science • 3:00 – 3:10 Prepare to Go Home • 3:10 Dismissal

  7. Language Arts • Reading Series: • Wonders • Spelling Lists with Homework • Writing Process & 6 Traits • Handwriting • Phonics & Grammar • DIBELS Reading assessments • MTSS – Multi-Tiered Support System • Instruction that is geared toward the students to meet their specific needs

Math • Math Series: • Envision • Timed Tests weekly • “Rocket Math” Daily Practice • Year-end goals are 25+ addition & 20+ subtraction in 1 minute • Daily Math - review of facts and concepts • Practice Addition and Subtraction Facts daily at home to prepare for school • Time, Money, Regrouping & Borrowing (Composing & Decomposing), Fractions, Measurement, Geometry, Graphing, & Multiplication • Math Basic Skills Test each Quarter

Miscellaneous Info • Book Orders (Monthly) September • Birthdays • Lunch Money in envelope • Please give to the teacher at the beginning of the day. • Appropriate Clothing & Shoes • Flip-flops and Crocs unsafe for recess and gym • Jackets (have children check the temperature / daily weather) or leave a sweater here at school in cubby • Visitors during school day need to check in with office first (get sticker badge) • Please help your child to learn how to tie their shoes.
