  1. Why is STEM Education Important in Elementary Schools? As a nation which is striving to compete globally, India lacks in key STEM skills – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics to prove its mettle. This is one segment of education where students fall behind the industrialized countries. Indian education system has recognized this shortcoming and with support from the government, it is now taking initiatives to incorporate STEM subjects across all curricula. This rather modern education system exposes students to innovation through practical learning methodologies. STEM subjects primarily focus on project based learning through real life applications of learnt concepts. Creativity sparks innovative thinking in students and when they get engaged in project based learning – a common practice in STEM – they come across opportunities for real growth and development.
