Content Area – English • Grade Level – Kindergarten • Summary – The purpose of this instructional PowerPoint is to teach students how to form regular plural nouns. • Learning Objective – The student will be able to orally form regular nouns with 100% accuracy. • Content Standard – 1.c. Form regular plural nouns orally by adding /s/ or /es/. • Accomplishment – 1. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

  3. Nouns What is a noun? It is a person, place, or thing.

  4. Plural When something is plural it means there are more than one. There are multiples. Singular Plural Book Books

  5. How to make a word plural • To make a word plural add the letter “S:” to the end of the word. • If we want to talk about more than one book we need to add “s”... Book + S = Books Now you have more than one book!

  7. Now let’s play a game! The Plural Girls Twin sisters Pearl and Flora lost their friends in the bubble machine. Help them get their friends out by choosing the correct plural form of the given word.

  8. Plural Nouns with “ES” Some plural nouns need more than just an “s”. If a noun ends in CH, SH, S or X we need to add “ES” to make the word plural. If we want to talk about more than one box we need to add “ES”... Box Boxes

  11. Now, On your sheet of paper... • Write down the plural forms of these words: • Dog • Cat • Bush • School • Church • Farm • Hat • Shoe • For 3 minutes you will work on your own. • Then, you will Work with your neighbor.
