  2. Police Officers Police officers overrule all signals, signs and road markings.

  3. The Law • It is illegal to remove or deface any sign, signal, or road marking.

  4. Traffic Signals • When hung horizontally signals have red on left, yellow or amber in the middle and green on the right • When hung vertically signals have red on top, yellow or amber in the middle and green on the bottom

  5. Yellow Lights • Turn to page 202 in the manual. • Amber = Yellow

  6. Traffic Signals with Arrows Traffic signals with arrows control the flow of movement at an intersection.

  8. Warning Signs • Most warning signs are yellow and diamond shaped. • See examples on page 21 of Drive Right and page 208 in the Manual.

  9. Pedestrian Signs • These yellow warnings signs are diamond shaped. • Sometimes the are florescent.

  10. Specific Warning Signs • Rail Road crossing signs are yellow circles • No passing zone is a yellow pendant

  11. Specific Warning Sign • Warning about an obstacle is shown with a chevron.

  12. Construction Signs • These are warning signs that are orange diamonds. See page 208 in the Manual.

  14. Regulatory Signs • These signs indicate traffic speed, movement and restrictions. • They are red andwhite, black and white, or red, black and white. • Examples can be found in the Manual on page 209 and 210 or in Drive Right on page 20.

  16. Specific Regulatory Signs I • Stop signs are red octagons. Page 209 in the manual • Yield signs are red and white triangles. See manual p. 210

  17. Specific Regulatory Signs II • A Do Not Enter sign is a white square with a red circle that contains a white rectangle. • It is commonly seen at exits and entrances of parking lots and highways.

  18. Guide Signs • Green – Destination and Mileage • Blue – Service • Brown – Recreation Area • Route Markers

  19. Road Markings • White lines in the road means that traffic is going in the same direction. • Yellow lines means that traffic is going in opposite directions. • A white line is on the right side of the edge of the road. • A yellow line is on the left side of the road. • Regardless of color, solid lines means no passing. Passing is permitted when there is a dotted line.

  20. Stop Line • A single solid white line across a road at an intersection with a stop sign or a traffic signal is a stop line.
