  7. INTRODUCTION

  8. Light is one of the important factors affecting both broiler and egg production. Many studies investigated the effect of daily light/dark ratio intensity and sources of light at growing and laying period on the growth and egg production performance. Few studies were taken the light colors in consideration in light system, where it was through that the various monochromatic lights have obvious effects on the poultry production specially on broiler and egg production measurements.

  9. ♂ • This experiment was designed to investigate the effect of different light colors (Incandescent, Fluorescent, Infrared, and Ultraviolet light) on some physiological and productional parameters in White Holland females { } and males{ } turkeys ♂ ♀

  10. MATERIAL AND METHODS

  11. MATERIALS AND METHODSThe present work was conducted out at: Poultry Research Farm, Poultry Production Department,Faculty of Agriculture, Minuofiya University,Shibin El-Kom, Through 2004 - 2006.

  12. Number of birds exposed to different light colours was 72 birds divided into 4 groups as follows:

  13. Study traits 1• Body weight. 2• Growth rate. 3• Age at sexual maturity 4• Body weight at sexual maturity.

  14. Study traits 5• Blood constituents : •Liver functions: • Total protein • Albumin • Globulin • Albumin /Globulin ratio

  15. Study traits • (GOT) • (GPT) • (ALP) • Total lipids • Cholesterol • LH hormone • Calcium

  16. Study traits 6.Semen production and characteristics: .Semen volume. .Semen motility. .Semen PH . • Semen concentration. . Percentage of livesperms .

  17. Study traits 7 • Bone strength. 8 • Free radical. 9 • Egg Production: • Egg weight • Egg number • Egg mass

  18. Study traits 10 • Egg quality: •Egg weight . •Yolk weight . • Albumin weight . •Shell weight . • Breaking strength . •Shell thickness . • Haugh unit . •Albumin high . • Eggs shape index . •Yolk index .

  19. Study traits 11 • Fitness: • Fertility. • Hatchability.

  20. Study traits 12 • Carcass quality. •Carcass weight . •Liver weight . •Gizzard weight. •Spleen weight . •Testes weight . •Ovary weight . •Oviduct weight .

  46. Free radical

  47. What is the Free radical ????

  48. If an atom or a molecule has one or more unpaired electron(s), it is called a FREE RADICAL

  49. What is the importance of Free radical ???

  50. When the free radical appears it convert the atoms or molecules from the stable state to unstable state to be available to interact with anther atoms (as: oxidation).
