Agent is a workflow processor Second type of workflow: Monitoring workflow: Monitors the state of all the configuration items State change from green to red (or yellow) will generate alerts State change back to green will close the associated alert State changes are kept in the database and are reused for availability calculations

    16. SQL Server Management Pack key monitoring scenarios Availability of discovered components: all discovered components are monitored for their availability. Monitoring for blocked single server process IDs (SPIDs). Periodically queries the database engine for a list of SPIDs. If blocking SPID is detected (exceeds the given threshold), then a red state and an alert are generated. Data file and log file space monitoring. Total data file and log file free space is monitored and checked against percentage and size in megabytes based thresholds. Long-running agent jobs Maximum job duration is compared against the thresholds on a per agent basis. If a single job runs to long, a red state and an alert are generated. Service pack compliance Can be fine-tuned(override) to a specific SP version
