  1. Announcements • Walk through the Bible Class: Is this coming Tuesday, June 26th. It will be our last class for the summer. • In the Hospital (EMH) this Week: Jim Kent, Jean Naylor (moved to Life Care), Ann Watt, Lester Aldrich. • In Akron General Hospital is Gail Cox who has been seriously ill for the last month. I will be visiting with her tomorrow.

  2. * LIGHT516 * Re-NEW Re-NEW We will meet again on Sunday, June 24th following worship with a pot-luck lunch. • What are the needs of our community here in Elyria? Why is it that God placed us here? What specific ministry does God want us to fulfill here? • We will be studying our Community needs and how God has prepared us to meet those needs. Come and join us.

  3. Summer AdultBible Study Pastor Jim will be teaching Three Separate Studies this Summer. Registration Materials are on the Back Table.

  4. The Gospel of John July 17th & 18th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm each night. Registration Deadline 2 weeks prior. Cost $10. The Gospel of Saint John

  5. Book of Revelation July 31st & August 1st from 7-8:30 PM each night Registration Deadline 2 weeks prior. Cost $10.

  6. The Dead Sea Scrolls August 14th & 15th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm each night. Registration Deadline 2 weeks prior. Cost $10.

  7. Why Are You So Afraid? Sunday, June 24th, 2012 Text: Mark 4:35-41

  8. Karen Fair’s 3-year-old daughter, Abby • Trouble sleeping through the night. • Have you prayed to Jesus to help you fall asleep? • “Yes Mommy, and He told me to come and get you!”

  9. The Words of Our Text from Mark “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Then, says Mark’s Gospel, they were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

  10. I have been fascinated by this Story! • Jesus’ disciples, many of whom were fishermen, were terrified by this storm. • Jesus calmed the storm and that really sent shock waves through them.

  11. Why Are You So Afraid? • Fear is at the heart of most of the problems we human beings have. • The opposite of faith is NOT doubt; • The opposite of faith is _________ • At the heart of every negative emotion that afflicts us is FEAR! FEAR

  12. I scream the same… Jesus is saying to us, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Not Just Faith in Anybody or Anything • The only kind of faith that really matters is faith in Jesus Christ. • “Who is this that even the wind and the waves obey Him?” the disciples asked. • This is Jesus is different alright – He’s God! • There is no problem, no difficulty, and no issue that He can’t handle!

  16. “Chicken Soup for the Soul” Accept what I cannot change; Courage to change what I can; God grant me the serenity to know the difference;
