  2. Performance Expectation • At the end of the presentation, you will: • Know the best spots to do all sorts of outdoors activities. • Compare and contrast the different camping areas through a Venn diagram. • Construct a small brochure on what there is to do during the summer and winter time.

  3. What is there to do? • On a nice summer day, there are plenty of lakes and rivers to go swimming, boating, or tubing. You may also take a tour of the mountain side by four wheeling through the woods or hike the famous Susquehanna trail. • During the winter, you can enjoy the white snow covered mountains by snowmobiling on the trails, sledding, cross country skiing, down-hill skiing, or simply relax around a cozy fire. Star gazing is also a popular activity all twelve months.

  4. Potter County • Potter County was made for people who seek to escape and enjoy the activity of the great outdoors as well as the peace and quiet of the country, and the wide open spaces where there's always room to relax. • For more information, click on the links that I have provided.

During the Summer time • During the summer, some major attractions people visit are: • The Susquehanna River At the Susquehanna River, you can go swimming, boating, tubing, and fishing. http://www.susquehannarivertrail.org/ • Lyman Run ATV’s trails Lyman Run is an awesome place to go four wheeling through the woods and take time to see nature. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/Parks/lymanrun.aspx

During the Winter time • During the winter time, some major attractions people visit are: • Ski Denton • Ski Denton is a very popular place where people can lodge and wake up in the morning and go tubing or skiing down the mountain. http://www.skidenton.com/ • Cherry Springs State Park • Cherry Springs State Park is a great place to go in the winter time. • You can enjoy your day by going tubing down the big hills they have and then go snowmobiling on them as well. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/recreation/index.aspx • Star gazing is another very popular activity at Cherry Springs State Park. Some people on darker areas may see 3,000 stars, but at Cherry Springs you can sometimes see upwards of 10,000 stars. http://www.pottercountypa.net/attractions.php

Where to Stay? • Some of the local places to stay are the: • The Kettle Creek Lodge • Located on Kettle Creek, a famous fly fishing stream once visited by past President Jimmy Carter. • http://kettlecreeklodge.com/attractions.html • Ole Bull State Park • Ole Bull State Park is named for Ole Bornemann Bull, the famous Norwegian violinist who toured the United States in the 1850s. • http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/olebull.aspx

  8. Kettle Creek Lodge • Not only can you stay at Kettle Creek Lodge, but it also has many exciting outdoor activities to keep you and your family occupied for days! The things at appeal to people when they look at this resort are: • Fishing • Hiking • Biking • Hunting • ATV and Snowmobile trails

  9. Ole Bull State Park • Ole Bull State park is a great place to stay if you love camping! The park has 46 camping sites and also a two-story log cabin to stay in if you are not comfortable sleeping in a tent or a motor-home. • It is a very family oriented place where the whole family can enjoy activities. They include: • Camping • Hunting • Picnicking • Fishing • Swimming • Hiking

  10. Other Assessments • Venn Diagram: • Go to the Social Studies center and pick up the Venn Diagram on the table. Go back to your table and follow the directions at the top. When you are finished, place it in the Social Study bin next to my desk. • Brochure : • Go to the Art Center and pick up the materials you will need to construct a season activity brochure. Go back to your seat and work on your brochure. When you are finished, place it in the Art Center bin next to my desk.
