  1. Chromebooks

  2. What is a Chromebook?

  3. This is a HUGE deal! • 8th grade LA teachers wrote a grant last year, and we were given A LOT of money to get chromebooks for you to use in our rooms. • We are expecting you to handle this opportunity with maturity and enthusiasm!

  4. So why do we have them? • Educational reasons Google Apps and Drive, schoology, vocab, etc. • Technology and standards For example, Common Core Standard-W.8.6 Use technology, including the internet, to produce and publish writing and present the relationships between information and ideas efficiently as well as to interact and collaborate with others.

  5. So why do we have them? • Easier research and word processing access at school-no need for computer lab days! • Tool, not a toy

  6. Speaking of tool, and not a toy... What we won't be doing on our chromebooks: • Facebook • Email-unless teacher approved • Games-unless teacher approved • Youtube-unless teacher approved

  7. Speaking of tool, and not a toy... And the nagging continues.... • We will only be accessing approved websites • We will use the chromebooks only when the teacher says so • Most importantly, we will never engage in any activity that involves academic dishonesty or the harassment or bullying of another person

  8. Chromebook Care

  9. How to Care for my Chromebook • Make sure your hands and desk are clean • Keep water, food, candy, and gum away from your desktop • Be careful when walking with it and try not to drop it • Always return it to the correct spot • Be respectful of the amazing oportunity you have been given!
