  15. 13. Purpose of enzymes / enzyme action • Enzymes are proteins Substrate fits into the active site • Enzymes lower the amount energy required to start a chemical reaction • They can be destroyed with high temperatures / pH

  16. 14. Cells placed in hypertonic, hypotonic, or isotonic solutions • Hypertonic - cell will shrink • Hypotonic – cell will swell • Isotonic – cell will stay the same
