  1. Advance Information This power point will help you fully understand the pollution in the ocean.

  2. Sargasso grass is in the north pacific gyre were the plastic is. The plastic will get stuck in the Sargasso grass. When animals go up to eat the grass they will accidently eat the plastic. This is a problem because it kills animals and pollutes the Sargasso ecosystem. Which is a wonderful important ecosystem. If we continue to pollute the water it will eventually end up destroying the Sargasso ecosystem. Sargasso grass

  3. Plastic appears from the landfills, direct littering, and dumping. Please view the following slides to get more information about the three ways plastic ends up in the ocean. How plastic gets to the ocean

  4. Plastic can come from landfills and be transferred to the ocean by natural erosion. One way to prevent plastic dumped in landfills from ending up in the ocean is to recycle. Landfills

  5. Direct littering is when people drop plastic on the ground. This ends up in the ocean by wind movement and rain. It then gets washed into a water shed and ends up in the ocean. This can be stopped by not littering. Direct littering

  6. Dumping is when people directly drop plastic in the ocean and it ends up in the gyre. This can be stopped by properly disposing of trash or recycling. Dumping

  7. Plastic ruins ecosystems and kills animals. It ruins ecosystem by polluting it. And kills animals when they eat the plastic or get tangled in it. Plastic is harmful because plastic absorbs chemicals that cannot blend with the ocean. Plastic absorbs the chemicals which makes it harmful to fishes when eaten. Plastic can get tangled with fishes because fishes mistake plastic for jelly fish, or another sort of food, or a “toy” to play with. If a animal gets stuck in plastic it is worse then death. How plastic affects the ocean

  8. Plastic pollutes the water because it takes four-hundred years to bio-degrade and is capable of appearing in all zones of the oceans. It ruins ecosystems and kills animals. This problem will only get worst and will keep piling up in the ocean. How plastic pollutes water
