  2. Concept • As photography major, I would like to focus on image development through Photoshop. Prior to this class, I had only used Photoshop one time and that was over 6 years ago. That being said, I think it’s about time I put more time and effort into using a development tool that can only further my skill as an artist. I plan on doing an initial photo shoot with an emphasis on grunge style portraiture. Well, for now that is my plan, but I tend to allow development and change as I progress and may take more of a documentary approach. I will photograph at least two of my friends (and neighbors) with little emphasis on the technical side of photography. I plan to then use multiple images and layer them in Photoshop to create a montage style. I really want to explore some of the manipulation tools to find what kind of raw grunge effect I can create without previous makeup or lighting enhancements during the shoot. I have done grunge style photo shoots in the past with all effects done during the shoot and in the darkroom to create the desired outcome, but want to push myself to do just the opposite and really explore the tools available in Photoshop. Depending on my mood (realistically), I will either create a believable image or a very surreal state. Ideally I will go with a surreal image, but depending on the outcome of the photo shoot, I will be open minded going into it and let the project develop as I go.
