Throughout this presentation, you will find information on Human Resources Policies and Regulations and new employee information.   5. HISTORY APS was started as a one-room school house in 1865 and now consists of 61 schools. Who Are We? SIZE APS is the fifth largest district in Colorado.We have approximately 40,000 students and over 6,000 employees. DIVERSITY Our students come from more than 131 countries and speak more than 133 languages. 36% of our students speak English as a second language. Approximately 20 of our schools receive Title I funding.

  9. Medical Benefits - Kaiser The Employer contribution for ALL Kaiser Medical plans is $473.64. The employee cost is listed in the table below. *Additional vision coverage is available from United Healthcare for an additional cost to employees.

  10. Dental Benefits – Delta Dental The Employer contribution for ALL Delta Dental plans is $20.02. The employee cost is listed in the table below. *Additional vision coverage is available from United Healthcare for an additional cost to employees.

  11. Additional Benefits • United Healthcare Vision coverage is available for an additional cost to employees. We offer both a Base and Buy-Up plan • Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, as well as, Health Savings Accounts are provided by 24 HourFlex. • Medical Flexible Spending Accounts can pay for health/dental/vision out of pocket expenses (i.e. co-pays, RX, etc.) with pre-tax dollars. Paying for expenses with pre-tax dollars lowers your taxable income, leaving more in your take-home pay. *You cannot pay for outside insurance premiums with your Spending Accounts. • Currently, you may contribute up to $2600 per plan year to an annual Medical Care Flexible Spending Account and $5,000 annually for Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts. • Aurora Public Schools pays Employer Paid Basic-Life, AD&D and Long-Term Disability Insurance for all full-time employees • Voluntary plans are also offered for an additional cost, they include: Life and AD&D (Employee, Spouse and Child), Accidental Injury, and Critical Illness

  13. Every APS Employee Needs One Photo ID Photo I.D.

Your Employee ID Badge • All APS employees must wear their identification badges at all times when on APS property. • IDs do expire, so please keep an eye on your expiration date and come back to get a new one; renewals are free when you turn in your old ID. • To obtain a photo ID, please visit the Employee Services Office at ESC - 4.Please check in at the receptionist desk. • Times available to get your ID: • Monday – Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:15 PM. • Please do NOT attach your keys to the same lanyard that holds your ID, also do not wear a lanyard that states your school site. These would present a serious security risk if you lose your lanyard

  15. District-Mandated All new employees must complete the online tutorial within 60 days of employment. Child Abuse Reporting & Standard Precautions against Blood-borne Pathogens Training

  16. Child Abuse Awareness Training • District policy requires that all new employees be trained in recognizing signs of and reporting procedures for child abuse as well as information about standard precautions against blood-borne pathogens within 60 days of the start of employment. • You must turn in the online certificate of completion for both Child Abuse and Blood-borne Pathogens Training to Human Resources • The online training can be accessed from http://hr.aurorak12.org/benefits/new-employee-orientation/online-orientations/

  17. New Employee Checklist Human Resources has developed a new employee checklist for all new staff members. The checklist provides links and resources for new hires that we believe will help guide them through their first year in Aurora Public Schools. New employees will receive the checklist from Human Resources as part of the new hire process. The checklist can be found on the HR website under Resources and on the HR Forms page.
