  2. 5th period Reteaching Class Rules After lunch, students need to exit the cafeteria and go directly to 6th period.  Students are expected to go to class using the shortest route.  Students are allowed to use the restroom at lunch (30 minutes), so there should not be any students late to class with the excuse given that they were in the restroom.  If students are late from lunch, please be sure that you are recording the tardies and making contact with parents, assigning detentions, and if needed, writing referrals. Also, please stand at your doors for supervision as students enter your classroom.  Once a student enters the classroom from lunch, please do not allow them to leave to the bathroom or the water fountain.  If students are not complying, please let me know and I will speak to them individually.  Dr. Sherry D.   14. 1. Overproduction=cacti grow more leaves and store more water than they can use, this is to ensure that if parts of the plants get eaten there is still enough for the plant to survive or to have enough water when the roots can’t get it-in drought.

  15. 2. Genetic Variation=cacti plants are displaying variations=one has thorns one doesn’t.

  16. 3. Selection (Struggle to Survive)=cacti plants with the thorns are more protected from deer as they deter deer from eating them. (deer is more likely to eat the cactus that doesn’t have thorns)

  17. 4. Competition (Survival of the Fittest)= since the cacti without the thorns gets eaten more and more, there is not enough of the plants to survive and reproduce.

  18. 5. How Natural Selction acted on the cacti= see the last photo (4) here we see that all the surviving cacti have thorns this is because this plant was better adopted to survive and not be eaten by deer.
