  2. Our identity apart from Christ • And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh (v.13a) • Condemned in our trespasses • Taking what doesn’t belong to you will condemn you!

  3. Our identity apart from Christ • And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh (v.13a) • Stripped of our sinful impulses - that is what the uncircumcision of your flesh means.

  4. Our identity with Christ You who were dead…God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross (vv.13b-14)

  6. Our identity with Christ • Forgiveness of the debt brings life. God made alive…, having forgiven us all our trespasses

  7. Our identity with Christ • Our record of sin was canceled • God made alive… having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross

  8. Our identity with Christ • You can’t be dead and with Christ – the condemnation that was your death has been “rubbed” out!

  9. Our completeness is based on Christ • He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. (v.15) • Everything and anything that hinders our being made alive with Christ has been taken out of the way and destroyed.

  10. Our completeness is based on Christ For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. (Col. 1:16)

  11. Our completeness is based on Christ and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. (Col. 1:10)

  12. Our completeness is based on Christ and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. (Col. 2:20)

  13. Bottom Line: • Christ death is necessary for removing our death and He is adequate for every thirst of our soul!
