  1. Keeping the

  2. The Bible Warns of Unfaithfulness • (Hebrews 6:4-6) • For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. (NKJV)

  3. The Bible Speaks of the Ugliness of Unfaithfulness • (2 Peter 2:18-22) • For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again…

  4. The Bible Speaks of the Ugliness of Unfaithfulness • …entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire." (NKJV)

  5. What faithfulness is NOT: • …an active prayer life (Mat. 23:14) • …evangelism (Mat. 23:15) • …giving. • …being zealous (Rom. 10:1-2). • …being sincere. • …attending worship regularly. • …worship (Mat. 15:9).

  6. What faithfulness IS: • “…every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Gen. 6:5) • "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. (Matthew 15:7-8 NKJV) • "Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man." (Matthew 15:11 NKJV)

  7. What faithfulness IS: • (Matthew 19:16) Now behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" • (Matthew 19:20-21) The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?" Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

  8. What faithfulness IS: • (Deuteronomy 10:12) • "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God requireof you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

  9. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #1) Submit to God • (James 4:7-8) • Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

  10. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #2) Develop Your Faith • (1 Timothy 4:7-8) • But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

  11. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #3) Put Your Faith to Work • (James 2:26) • For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. • (Matthew 16:27) • "For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

  12. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #3) Put Your Faith to Work • In Worship: • Public (Heb. 10:25-26) • Private Worship • Mary’ s Song (Lk. 1:46-55) • Jesus: spoke of private worship • Peter on a housetop praying (Ac. 10:9) • Paul and Silas: worshipping in a prison cell singing and praying (Ac. 16:25)

  13. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #3) Put Your Faith to Work • In Study: • (1 Timothy 4:13) • Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

  14. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #3) Put Your Faith to Work • In Meditation: • (Philippians 4:8) • Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

  15. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #3) Put Your Faith to Work • In Meditation: • (2 Corinthians 13:5) • Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? --unless indeed you are disqualified.

  16. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #3) Put Your Faith to Work • In Sharing it With Others: • (Matthew 28:18-20) • And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

  17. How to Become & Remain Faithful • #3) Put Your Faith to Work • In Sharing it With Others: • (2 Timothy 2:2) • And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

  18. Would you be willing to give God just 2%?
