  2. Budgets Watch and learn as we walk through the steps of setting up budgets in a live company. Start to finish you’ll see how to create a new budget, the use of dimensions and filters, how the export/import feature can be used to make this process easier, and various reports that can be generated once you’re done. If you aren’t already using Microsoft Dynamics NAV budgets, we’ll show you just how easy it can be to put this valuable tool into place for your company! This session is for intermediate and advanced financial users.

Budgets 6 Ways to Create Budgets • Manually by typing in all the numbers • Allocation by account which can split a total across periods or use a period percent change • Copy based on a prior budget • Copy based on GL entry history • Options 3 or 4, with a +/- adjustment factor • Export budget template, populate or change, and Import back into NAV

  4. Budgets Use DIMENSIONS to Create Strength and Flexibility in Your Budgets • Global Dimensionswill always be available • Use up to 4 additional Shortcut Dimensions

  5. Budgets Audit Trail • Use of Description allows you to trace when entries started out in this budget. • Manual entries or entries added using import are recorded on a separate line so you can tell a change was made. • Even deletions record an offsetting entry for additional traceability.

Budgets Augsburg’s Budgeting • Global dimension for all Revenue and COGS accounts. • All expense accounts are budgeted with a shortcut dimension, Teams. • Further breakdown of specific expense accounts for marketing and product development with shortcut dimension, Project. • Use Export/Import method, have users make changes in Excel, and bring everything back to NAV.
