  26. Our Starting Point… STRATEGIC PLANNING • We start with a Strategic Plan developed and modified over the years. • It also is used as a measurement tool for completions of tasks. • Updated at the mid-year review

  32. Where do we keep it… The Florida West Coast web site has a repository of files and samples that can be used by a Chapter to begin their process of data management. To get to the site: www.apics-flwc.org/Templates/TemplateMain.htm

  33. FILE TYPES

  34. HOW TO HANDLE DATA There are many ways to organize your data. A web site is organized like your computer with sub-directories (folders). Standard web sites use a technique called FTP to move files between the computer where data is being managed to the web site. This is generally a security based procedure using a login and password.

  39. MAKING AN ITEM LINK TO DOCUMENTS Enter the location of the stored file in the [Address]: box. http://www.apics-flwc.org/C-BAR/2008-2009/C-Bar_BoD_Minutes_2008-2009.htm

  40. Enter the link to the file. If you have recently opened that file, it may be available in the drop down box. Select the down arrow and pick the file. This is called a hyperlink. When that item is “clicked”, the file will open. MAKING AN ITEM LINK TO DOCUMENTS

  42. The C-BAR data file has macros included in the file that may cause security issues with your computer, depending upon your security level. Files the are downloaded from the web site may be “read only”….you can’t save changes to the original filename. You can save it under another filename. On the FLWC site, the CMS and C-BAR displays are done in Adobe .pdf format. This file type opens faster than a spreadsheet and eliminates the issue with macros. It also makes a more secure version of the file – no editing is allowed. Only the master copy can be edited and only by someone who knows and is authorized to edit. WORKING WITH THE C-BAR DATA FILE
