Active Assailant Tips Active Assailant Tips for Companies 1 1.If you can't jump out a window, consider that it is a high rise site in your planning. 2.In response situations, call the elevator to ground floor - it stops people cramming into the elevator. First responders also then have access to the elevator to use to get to the right floor. 3.Triggering alarms also gets people moving rapidly towards the exit which creates more congregation points. 4.Organisation should have in place separate notification tones for evacuation or shelter in place. 5.It is important to understand the issues of "verticality" and how it changes the approach. The building manager and each level tenants need to work together/plan together.

All civilian/professional responders need to have the education and equipment for haemorrhage control. 2."Notify, Run, Hide or Fight" are the key response elements - based on the totality of the situation. 3.Inform all personnel not to trigger the fire alarm as it re-opens the doors from the fire escape. this then allows an assailant to move from floor to floor more readily. 4.In recent survey, a large number of security personnel or facility staff do not know how to lock off elevators or how to control them effectivly. It is a fundamental activity that they should be trained on. 5.From a recent collation of Active Shooter incidents, the average time of duration in 8 minutes - well before response time for Police.
