  3. The ILO states: Students will demonstrate global perspectives by generating theoretical and pragmatic approaches to global problems within a disciplinary or professional context. They will develop responsibility toward the global environment in others. Evidence will be the ability to analyze global issues from multiple perspectives, to articulate understanding of interconnected local and global issues, and apply frameworks in formulating a response to global concerns and local issues.

  4. WHAT WE DID 19 class sections from 10 different courses participated 431 students were assessed. Students were given an assignment relating to the ILO which was rated according to a common rubric developed by a LOAC sub-committee. The rubric included the following three criteria: Analysis (analyzes global issues from multiple points of views), Articulation (articulates interconnectedness of local and global issues), Develop Solutions (develops solutions in response to global concerns and local issues).

  5. HOW WE DID 88% of students achieved acceptable or above. The College’s 70% benchmark was achieved. Results: Students who had previously taken more units at Mission were more likely to achieve acceptable or above. Older students did better (independent of units). Spanish primary language speakers did better than English primary language speakers. White, non-Hispanic students did better than Hispanic students. Women did slightly better than men.
